River Usk

The River Usk is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and a European Special Area of Conservation (SAC), known for the quality of its salmon and brown trout.

 The Wye and Usk Foundation is an independent charity which is working on both river systems to enhance and protect the riparian environment with the active support of the fishermen and river owners.

Three fishing beats, each for two rods, are let on a seasonal basis. Rods are available to purchase for the rest of the 2026 season.

Llanover has three trout and salmon beats which are let on a seasonal basis.

The rights to fish are mostly from both banks.

Trout fishing season is 3 March to 30 September.

Salmon fishing season is 15 March to 17 October.
